I was getting something out of a cupboard in the kitchen earlier when I noticed my bread maker. It occured to me that I haven't made any bread for at least a year. I decided right away that I was going to make some today! I only have a most basic bread maker, I think it was the cheapest availabe when I bought it about 7 years ago. A Hinari Homebaker...it may be basic but it has always made nice bread. I experimented a lot with that bread maker; I made all kinds of weird and wonderful bread. One of my favourites though is Chickpea Bread which is delicious, filling and has an interesting texture thanks to the chickpeas.
Chickpea Bread
Ingredients:
250ml water
2tbsp extra virgin olive oil
175g cooked chickpeas (I've used drained chickpeas from a can)
500g strong white bread flour
1 1/2 tbsp milk powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
2tsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp fast action or easy bake yeast
Method:
- In the bread making tin, put in first the water, oil and chick peas. Then add the flour. Put the yeast in the middle and the other ingredients in each corner.
- Bake on your bread making machine's basic/normal setting.
- On my machine this takes about 4 hours.
Hot out of the breadmaking machine - delicious as a simple supper, with thick cut ham and picalilli or dipped in homemade soup. |
My trusty Hinari bread making machine, still going strong after more than 9 years. |
That bread looks very delicious!...Nice blog!...Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Mezzamay...looks like you've got a great site here, gonna have to try that chickpea bread :) I have an odd question...I have the exact same breadmaker and I need a new pan for it (the nonstick has started scraping off) but don't know what model it is, you don't know the model name by any chance? :)
ReplyDeleteHi! Sorry for the delay in responding.
ReplyDeleteOn the top I can just make out "Hinari Homebaker" but if you look on the bottom of the machine it should have the model number, mine is Hinari HB161. I think this model is discontinued.
