Corner View : Taking A Different Perspective

This week I have been taking a different perspective on my knitting... instead of following a pattern, I have been attempting to write a pattern for some pieces that I knitted in an improvised fashion . Although the items I made are simple, I was surprised at how much work goes into putting even a basic pattern down on paper in a way that everybody can understand....and when you have different sizes and yarn thicknesses too....it's certainly been exercising my brain! It involves knitting a lot of swatches, taking a lot of notes and generally going over and over what you've already done. I don't make it sound much fun and I'm not really sure I'm enjoying it myself...I'm looking forward to a sense of achievement once I finally "publish".
So from this perspective I have learnt to appreciate and admire knit and crochet designers even more!

  2. You're right- it is sometimes exhausting to write down a pattern. But the feeling of satisfaction in the end is very rewarding :)

    Happy knitting,
