I have knitted a lot of shawls over the last few years, mostly lacy ones. Sometimes you just want to knit something simple, something quick, something that shows off the sheen or colours of the yarn without the distraction of a stitch pattern.
Instead of wearing shawls in the traditional way, i.e. over the shoulders, I prefer to wear mine as a neckerchief or scarf, around my neck, like a bandit! Finding that the typical triangular shawl is prone to slip off, I decided to make something with longer ends and some shaping to help it stay in place.

And the result is "Shelldrake". The pattern has two versions - a smaller neckerchief knitted in a light sock-weight yarn and a larger shawlette knitted in a glorious silky lace-weight yarn. The larger version features a beaded bind off which adds subtle sparkle.

The pattern has been test knitted by several lovely ladies...but if you do find any errors, please do let me know!
