River Cottage Veg - Everyday

I tried a new recipe last weekend : "Cauliflower & Chickpea Curry"
It's from Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's book
I received this book as a Christmas present from my children.
A long time ago, when I was young, I was a vegetarian for about 10 years. Although I do eat meat now, I try to make sure that I eat a lot vegetables and I like to alternate my weekday meals between meat and vegetarian dishes. This is for several reasons. Firstly, I don't think it's very healthy to eat meat everyday and secondly, when I do buy meat I try to buy organic or freedom farmed meat which tends to be very expensive and as the vegetarian meals are so much cheaper it helps to balance out my budget on food shopping.
So, how was the curry? To be honest, it's not the best curry recipe I've ever tried. My own chick pea and potato curry  is much better. It was perfectly edible, nothing wrong with it but it wasn't exactly a taste sensation. Having said that, the flavours did improve greatly when I heated up the left overs the next day for lunch.
I am not put off though...there are a lot of recipes in this book that I would still  like to try and many of them are the kind of recipes where you could easily substitute one vegetable for another which makes it very flexible in using up what you happen to have in your fridge.
I look forward to cooking some more from this book.
