Corner View - Tables

I spotted this little "table" at a car-boot sale in Southampton when I was at University years ago. I didn't even know what it was at the time, I just liked the look of it.
It says Van Duk's Hakblok on the front. The top is a removable chopping board and I had always assumed it was for a child's play kitchen but on closer inspection today I noticed that it has been used as a chopping board at some point as there are marks on the wood.
Anyway, despite being a keen cook, I have never actually used it as a chopping board, I have always used it to store bits and bobs and one of the many places to stash my jewellery collection.
Above is my favourite necklace - a silver ball with a chime in the middle that my mother brought me back from India.
The crystal tennis bracelet and opera earrings are costume pieces I designed for Cristalina and Daniel Lyons.
Below are my current favourite earrings which I bought off Etsy from a lovely jewellery designer/maker called Laura Stark.

  1. Unique and adorable table. I love how you're using it! And I LOVE your jewelry. I am big on dangly earrings and unique braceletts and pins(broaches). I've started buying and wearing necklaces again--I went years without buying many, but they are such cool ones out there, it's hard to resist! As a school teacher, my daily wardrobe can be boring, but I jazz it up with jewelry (and sparkly finger nails). :>)

    1. Thank you :-)
Funnily enough, I also went through a stage of not wearing much jewellery but then I started this job 7 years ago and found that I was wearing and accumulating a lot of jewellery of all kinds! I think it's a hazard of the job!
I think the right pieces can really make a difference to an outfit and also make you feel special, especially when people notice and comment on a piece you're wearing.

    1. Yes, even though my job is designing mass produced jewellery, I still love handmade jewellery best of all and I like to support individual artisans through Etsy and Dawanda, rather than buying from the high street.

  5. the kitchen table in my parents house was similar, and had a wooden kneading board that you'd pull out - that table is now long gone, it became too small, but the wooden board is still in use, though it now has no proper storage space!
love the jewelry you designed, I wish I could get a closer look to the tennis bracelet (us being a tennis family and all)!

    1. I'll try and get a better photo of it... my camera lens is playing up at the moment...the motor is broken.
I'm not sure I'd play tennis with any kind of tennis bracelet, regardless of whether it's made from diamonds or crystal! I'd be too worried it would break...but then I expect famous tennis stars like Chris Evert had a bit more disposable income than me!

  6. Your table looks very happy to be trusted as the keeper of such treasures!! Looks like you both 'found' each other, sweet table story. Reminds me of the expression, 'every picture tells a story', and a variation 'every table tells a story'.
