Izzy's Square - Free Crochet Motif Pattern

This is a motif I designed for a blanket I'm making for my daughter.
The middle features a little flower made with "pop-corn" stitch (PC).

I'm happy to share my pattern with you :-)

Izzy's Square
Size: Approx 12.5cm / 5"
Materials: Worsted weight yarn (e.g. Vannas Choice), in 3 colours, A, B & C
Hook: 5mm / H

N.B. This pattern in written in American crochet terminology.

Instructions:
Begin with a sliding loop.

Round 1 : With colour A, ch 3 (counts as a dc), 3 dc in loop, droop stitch from hook, insert hook into 3rd ch of beg ch3, draw dropped st through (beg PC made); ch 2; *in ring work 4 dc, drop st from hook, insert hook into 1st dc, draw dropped sti through (PC made); ch 2; repeat from * twice more, join with sl st into 3rd st of 1st ch. Fasten off colour A.

Round 2 : With colour B, join in any ch 2 space with a sl stitch, ch 3 (counts as a dc), 2 dc in same space; ch 1;* in next ch 2 space work 3 dc, ch2, 3dc; ch 1 repeat from * twice more; in first ch 2 space, 3 dc; ch 2; join with sl st into 3rd st of 1st ch. fasten off colour B.

Round 3 :  With colour C, join in any ch 2 space with a sl stitch, ch 3 (counts as a dc), 2 dc in same space; ch 2;* in next ch 1 space work 1 dc; ch 2; in next ch 2 space work 3 dc, ch2, 3dc; ch 2 repeat from * twice more; in next ch 1 space work 1 dc; ch 2; in next ch 2 space work 3 dc, ch2; join with sl st into 3rd st of 1st ch.

Round 4 : Continue with colour C, ch 2 (counts as a hdc), hdc into next 2 dc; 2 hdc into ch 2 space; *hdc into dc; 2 hdc into ch 2 space; hdc into next 3 dc; in corner 2 hdc, ch1, 2hdc; hdc into next 3 dc; 2 hdc into ch 2 space; repeat from * twice more; hdc into dc; 2 hdc into ch 2 space; hdc into next 3 dc; in last corner, 2 hdc; ch 1 join with sl st into 2nd st of 1st ch. Fasten off.

beg - beginning
ch - chain
dc - double crochet
hdc - half double crochet
PC - popcorn stitch

st - stitch
sl - slip

I'm making a blanket for my daughter using this pattern as part of my "Handmade Christmas Challenge"... check back once in a while to see how I'm getting on!
