Small fortitudes may sometimes
mend holes in a day,
help make it seem golden.
Those who do this may pick out
lost music in some small street noise
or may see the dance of summer shadows
over last year's fallen leaves.
On such days we find lost keys, and missing friends appear.

It's been nearly 13 years since my hallway was last decorated. Whilst contemplating the expense and disruption required to have it spruced up, I spotted a humming bird.
