My Favourite Place in Town

This might seem weird, but my favourite place in town is the graveyard. I know I am not the only one who loves these usually peaceful parts of town.
I love to walk there with the buggy; the baby seems to enjoy the atmosphere too. I start to relax while we both get our daily dose of Vitamin D.
On a sunny spring day like today, the birds are twittering and the trees are coming out in bud. The narcissus planted by loving relatives shine joyfully in the sunshine.

Squirrels scamper mischievously over the gravestones. A black and white cat slinks behind a yew tree.
No cars, no people, just lots of trees, grass, flowers and birds and a stillness which is far from morbid.
I always feel better after a slow stroll through the graveyard.
Even as a child I used to love the graveyard in my home-town of Porthleven and where I lived until recently in Walton. Now I've moved again and my new graveyard is just as pleasant although not as grand as the one in Walton. Perhaps the inhabitants of Hersham were not as wealthy? Instead this one has a "lawn of remembrance". I've never seen one of these before. What a lovely idea. I shall put some flowers down for Nora this Mother's Day.
