5 x 5 - A Blanket in a Year

I have now made 269 motifs and I am ahead of schedule by 27 (in order to complete this blanket before 2012). I managed to make quite a few during the Easter holidays whilst sat in the sun in my mum's garden.

Despite having made so many, I am not bored yet, infact I find the repetition of making these quite meditative and soothing.

To avoid the huge task of sewing all the motifs together at the end, I am trying to sew batches together as I go along. At the moment I am joining blocks of 5x5.

"Repetition is based on body rhythms, so we identify with the heartbeat, or with walking, or with breathing. "
Karlheinz Stockhausen

The quote is about music but I feel it's apt because crocheting these motifs everyday has become part of the rythm of my life.

  1. Oh, wow, it's gorgeous! I made an african flower blanket last year, only 99 motives, and I never tired of crocheting them.
