Third Encounter with a Slow Cooker

My previous two attempts with the slow cooker were not exactly satisfactory.
Undeterred, I embarked on a third recipe - North Indian Style Chicken.
Chicken thighs cooked with onions, garlic, chillies & madras curry paste. I added a potato cut into quarters to add some starch to thicken it a bit whilst cooking and because I love it when you get a potato in a take away curry - soft and infused with all the curry flavours.

I attempted to make saffron rice with some saffron my mother got me from India - Lion Brand Saffron. Unfortunately I fear the saffron was fake because it didn't impart any colour or flavour. Apparently a lot of fake saffron comes from India.

Despite the dodgy saffron, the curry smelt and tasted great  - very authentic and pretty hot too! I'm glad I added the potato too, it was beautiful!
Success at last.... I'll definitely be making this again :-)

Next, I'd like to try making a desert in the slow cooker...how about poached pears or rice pudding?

The recipe was taken from the book Slow Cooker (Quick and Easy, Proven Recipes Series)
