Marlene the Scarlet Empress

Ok, the title of this post is a little misleading. I am actually going to show you my finished Marlene scarf that I started the other day, and not talk about the film The Scarlet Empress
which stars Marlene Dietrich as a blonde Catherine the Great.
I had an enjoyable and peaceful afternoon watching this film whilst knitting my scarf. Not the best film in the world admittedly, but I love Marlene Dietrich and some of the jewellery, costumes and sets in this film are amazing.
My scarf is knitted in 2ply 100% cashmere so as you can imagine it's very soft with a slight halo. The pattern is quite ingenious; using short rows you knit a lace helix which creates the ruffles when it drapes. The finished result feels rather like a feather boa!
Here's a picture of it blocking:
Shame it's too hot at the moment to wear it.

Credits: The photos were taken by my 12 year old son. He's not always keen but he does do a good job :-)
