The Easter Egg Rose

In a previous Corner View post I wrote about my plans for my garden. Some of these plans are starting to take shape!
The sweet pea seeds have arrived and have been planted up in biodegradable pots. I soaked the seeds overnight in water before planting them. This was a tip from my mum as she says it helps germination. She loves sweet peas and often grows them in her garden. I'm thinking of getting a couple of obelisks/plant supports for my sweet peas, rather than making my usual wigmans out of bamboo canes which always look a bit messy.
For the Easter weekend we went up to my mum's house in Norfolk. On the way up in the car one of the conversations we had went something like this:
Me: "I hope you've remembered to buy me an Easter egg?"
OH: "Since when have I ever bought you an Easter egg?"
Me: "Well, exactly, isn't it time I got one?"
OH: "You don't need any more chocolate!"
Haha! Thanks for that!!

While we were at my mum's we popped into the local garden centre to buy my parents a gift. I spotted a climbing rose that I thought might look nice in the front garden in the spot I talked about for a possible climbing rose or clematis (below).
My OH offered to buy it for me instead of an Easter egg. I agreed right away...so much better than an Easter egg! I have already planted it up and looking forward to seeing it in bloom. Apparently it's a quick and vigorous grower and does well in most conditions. It's called "Perpetually Yours" and has creamy yellow, scented flowers. But to me it will always be "The Easter Egg Rose"!
