Android Rescues Sock Knitting

I was sitting in the car, sheltering from the rain and wind while my son battled it out on the football pitch. As usual I had some knitting with me... some socks. I was knitting the cuff..."continue in K1P1 ribbing for 1 1/2 inches"... damn, I hadn't brought my knitting bag with my tape measure along. But I did have my Samsung Galaxy phone and wondered if there was a ruler application. Of course there was, it was free too! I downloaded "Smart Ruler" which was just perfect!

Having recently completed two big projects (Blanket in a Year and the Dido stole) and I couldn't wait until the start of the Posh Sock Challenge I decided to cast on a pair of socks using another indie dyer yarn that I've had in my stash for some time.

Merino wool and silk sock weight yarn in colourway "Geranium", hand dyed by Marigold Jen on Etsy.

As I am also trying to "knit from the bookshelf" I chose a pattern from the book Socks, Socks, Socks. I've started
the "Vine Lace Pattern" because I just need to quench my sock knitting urge without it being a massively challenging pattern - I'll save some of those for the Posh Sock Challenge! My daughter has voiced her opinion - the yarn and pattern don't go. I'll admit I have some reservations too, but let's see!

The yarn is already doing some interesting pooling... and when I first wound it I was amazed that the skein had an argyle pattern pooling on every side of the cake!
