Designing a Shetland Lace Shawl

One of my favourite knitting books is Heirloom Knitting by Sharon Miller. It's a brilliant reference book with lots of stitch patterns and tips on technique along with some interesting information about the history of Shetland lace knitting.
I am trying to design a triangular shawl using the stitch patterns and techniques described in this book.
Using some lace yarn held double, I have knitted a triangle of "Shetland Bead Lace".

I am going to attempt to knit on a border:

I'm dithering between two...the "Doris Edging"..

...or the "Fern Leaf Edging"...

I've got a few calculations to do in either case!
