Variation on Jamie's Brussel Sprouts

I really enjoyed the Jamie Oliver's Brussel Sprout Hash I made last week.
For for dinner I was planning sausages with mash and gravy. I decided to make Jamie's brussel sprouts again as an accompaniment to the meal, however, I didn't have any bacon/pancetta. As I was serving the sprouts with sausages I didn't think the lack of bacon would matter. I decided to add onions and garlic instead, since both these go very well with sausages.

For a 500g bag of Brussels sprouts to serve 4, I simply fried a sliced onion until softened and then added a teaspoon of sugar and cooked a little longer to caramelise. Then I added 2 cloves of crushed garlic before mixing in the shredded sprouts, water and Worcestershire sauce. This time I used less Worcestershire sauce as it was a little bit too much last time.

This non-meat version went very nicely with the bangers, mash and gravy! Highly recommended! It would have been perfect if I hadn't managed to cut myself on the food processor blade again!!
